Woodson always thought of Lin as a backup PG

Mike Woodson always considered Jeremy Lin to be more of a backup point guard than a starter, according to a person close to him.

Woodson prefers a pure playmaking point guard and though Lin shot too much.

Woodson apparently also believed the same thing during the Knicks' seven-game winning streak during the height of Lin's rise to prominence.

Lin started seven games under Woodson and played fewer than 26 minutes in four of them. Lin had averaged 35 minutes per start under Mike D'Antoni.

“We went out, we fielded guys like (Jason) Kidd and Raymond (Felton) and Pablo (Prigioni), guys we felt can help us and they’ve been great for us,” said Woodson. “. . . The Jeremy Lin thing is behind us and we’ve moved on in another direction. We wish Jeremy nothing but the best here in Houston — until he plays us.”

“We’re happy with the three guys we brought in, without a doubt,” Woodson said. “Absolutely. Very happy. I am.”

Lin's numbers are dropping more and more everyday. He's down to 10 points, 6 assists, and 3 turns per game.

I was one of those guys who wanted to re-sign him...

Glad we didnt, Felton has played really well this year, living up to his comments that he'd prove his critics wrong, from pre-season.. and Pablo really hasnt even gotten in a groove yet.. he'll be huge for us towards the end of the season/playoffs should Kidd start to slow down..

Hope the best for Lin, but he's gotta gain that killer instinct. I think he still plays too nervous..he isnt as confident as he should be in his own game.

he can be a solid scorer in the right system I suppose. But when you have a team with that much talent in the front court you need a PG who wants to pass first and foremost.
