Wizards Fine Arenas For Faking Injury

The Wizards have fined guard Gilbert Arenas for faking a knee injury on Tuesday night in order to avoid playing in the team's preseason home opener.

Washington consulted with the league office during their internal investigation of Arenas' comments, according to a source close to the situation.

Arenas said after the game Tuesday that he pretended to have a bum knee to give teammate Nick Young a chance to start.

"I told [Young] I'd sacrifice playing tonight so he can get some time in because I know he's kind of frustrated he's not getting a chance to crack the [small forward] position, especially since we're going three guards," Arenas said.

"So I told him I'll go and fake an injury or say something's wrong with me so you can start."

I honestly don't see the big deal in this... It's a preseason game, who cares if he faked an injury. Obviously he shouldn't have said anything, but it's not a big deal IMO.

I don't get him. Ever since the whole gun situation he's been a completely different guy. He doesn't seem as talkative, he doesn't seem as funny, he doesn't seem happy, he has a bigger beard, the list goes on and on. The guy really needs to get himself back on track.
