Simply miraculous how this ended up getting done prior to the start of camp. For those who haven't followed, Winfield has been MIA all off-season after the Vikings refused to negotiate an extension with him too early in the off-season. Winfield wasn't happy and even he was telling sources that he was most likely heading into his last season wearing purple.Vikings.Com said:The Vikings announced today that they have re-signed Pro Bowl CB Antoine Winfield. John Clayton of ESPN.com reports that the deal will keep Winfield under contract with the Vikings through the 2013 season. The Vikings did not disclose the terms of the extension.
“I’m just glad both sides came to an agreement that has given me an opportunity to end my career in Minnesota,” Winfield said. “That was the goal all along. I enjoy playing in front of the Vikings fans, my family loves living here and Minnesota is a great place to raise a family.”
I value this guy's leadership in that defense, he is arguably the 2nd best cover 2 CB in the league, (behind Ronde), and Cedric Griffin isn't a #1 guy.
