This is truely a sad day in Pistons history. He did a lot for the franchise.Bill Davidson, the longtime owner of the Detroit Pistons, died today at 85, multiple stations are reporting tonight. Davidson was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2008.
WXYZ-TV reported the news on its Web site tonight. WDIV-TV anchor Devin Scillian also reported Davidson's death on his Twitter account.
Davidson purchased the Pistons in 1974. His teams won six world championships, including by the Pistons, the WNBA's Detroit Shock and the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning. He was the only person in history to own championship teams in three professional leagues.
I don't have an article right now however.
RIP Bill Davidson.
