The Man behind the shadows that nobody really thinks about on a daily basis -- but take what you will, William Wesley aka Worldwide Wes should be the "Golden Boy" for all Knicks Fans right now, as the potential of giving up what some believe to be "too much" for Denver's star Carmelo Anthony could lead to Madison Square Garden Destruction Part II.

The thing that many don't understand but will come to learn over the course of the next 10 days is that Florida International University's head coach Isiah Thomas -- once the General Manager and Head Coach of the New York Knicks -- has used his influence and ties to Knicks owner James L Dolan as what you could call a 'Puppet Regime'. Isiah is known to many Knicks fans and all NBA fans as the man behind the 8 year disaster period of the Knicks, who practically scarred a once great franchise through pathetic trades and signings for players such as Steve Francis, Eddy Curry, Stephon Marbury, waived Jalen Rose, and the signing of Jerome James for 5-years $30M. Oh yeah, did I forget when he fired Larry Brown and hired himself as the Head Coach? Sorry for leaving that part out.

Now Isiah has taken the reigns in the shadows of possibly the biggest and most important trade for the New York Knicks in the last 10 years. It's a hit or miss, and president Donnie Walsh has been reluctant to give up SG Landry Fields and F Danilo Gallinari. As some will mention, giving up Gallinari should be easier to execute than parting ways with rookie G Landry Fields due to the lack of depth at PG/SG and the notion that Gallinari will be playing off the bench, behind Carmelo Anthony. As the tides have turned in LA, the negotiations between the Nuggets and Knicks are now essentially in the hands of both owners -- Josh Kroenke and James Dolan. The issue here is, following Melo's meeting with Mikhail Prohkorov & Minority owner Jay Z of the New Jersey Nets, it is believed that Carmelo was less than satisfied with their plan for the future. If Carmelo stands by his word and only will accept an extension with the Knicks, then the Knicks are essentially bidding against themselves -- just as the Nuggets had hoped for.

However, since Isiah Thomas has been influencing James Dolan behind the scenes, it's actually quite obvious that if Dolan can acquire Carmelo Anthony without parting with SG Landry Fields, he will take all the credit, blame Donnie Walsh for not getting it done sooner, and will almost certainly NOT pick up Walsh's option for the 4th and final year of his contract with the Knicks. If the deal does not get done, nobody receives credit and only Donnie Walsh will receive the blame. That is ugly, and leaves the door wide open for Isiah Thomas. Unfortunately for Isiah, one man with incredible power and influence over Commissioner David Stern stands in his way -- William Wesley, the Worldwide Wes. Why dos he matter? A few weeks ago the Knicks hired former Nuggets General Manager Mark Warkentien as a High-Level consultant to Donnie Walsh, the President and GM of the Knicks. He is represented by Wesley. The man believed to be in the process of being "groomed" as a future General Manager, former Knick Alan Houston, is Assistant General Manager of the Knicks and is also represented by Wesley. Lastly, Wesley is one of the top representatives of both SF Carmelo Anthony and PG Chris Paul, a player that the Knicks will undoubtedly pursue in about 15 months from now.

This is actually good. Wes has a lot of influence on David Stern. This morning Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned "It’s against NBA rules to rep players and coaches, but commissioner David Stern picks and chooses the rules he enforces. He lets Worldwide Wes travel with his Olympic teams, gain access to stars, steal them away and broker them to the commissioner’s market franchises."

Simply put, league executives claim that it's incredibly embarrassing that Stern pushed Walsh onto the Knicks to clean the mess and is allowing Dolan to seek Isiah to once again take control. People are also saying that because of his lack of influence on the Owner, Walsh probably prefers to walk away at the end of the season and potentially return to the Indiana Pacers as President if Larry Bird retires this summer.

The thing here to take grasp of is that Worldwide Wes is not well liked by fans, but if he has as much influence over David Stern as we believe him to have, then he could make a strong enough push for Warkentien or Houston to become the new General Manager instead of Isiah Thomas. But even if one of them becomes the new GM, that still may not matter, as Isiah Thomas and James Dolan have each other on speed dial, and Isiah will always push his opinion in the way of other's at the inevitable possibility of once again becoming a New York Knicks General Manager.

The point is that Isiah Thomas still has influence on James Dolan and the Knicks, and that if Dolan truly believes that Isiah "delivered" Melo (assuming they make the trade for him) it could result in Walsh not being with the Knicks next season and Dolan trying to bring him back to the Knicks -- but that since Worldwide Wes has influence over Stern and represents Warkentien and Houston in the Knicks Front Office, he could stand in Isiah's way.

I also kinda wanted to point out that he's always lurking in the background as potentially coming back to the Knicks, whether its this Summer or in 8 years from now.

In no way does his supposed involvement worry me. If we got Carmelo, he'd be coming into a much better situation than when he originally became our GM -- he'd already have 2 Stars and the financial flexibility to wait 1 year and sign Deron Williams or Chris Paul. Just kinda pointing out that he's still there in the background.

I havent written sumtin like this in a while, which is why I posted it -- if it confuses people then I can use that to improve on anything I write in the future.

I thought we would never hear about Worldwise Wes anymore since he didn't do what he suppose to and deliver LeBron to New York..
