Kenny Watson got his fifth start in place of injured running back Rudi Johnson this past Sunday, as the Bengals wrapped up the 2007 season with a win over Miami. Watson ran for 130 yards versus the Dolphins and I beg the question, should the Bengals stick with Rudi in 2008 or let him go?
If you ask me, Rudi Johnson has been a decent fixture since the Bengals parted ways with Corey Dillon a few years back, however he seems to be wearing down and the nagging leg injuries are becoming more of a problem.
Kenny Watson is a faster, more versatile back that can bang the ball up the middle and run outside the ends. Watson is also a much better pass catching back, snagging 51 balls for 363 yards this season.
The Bengals have a lot of roster overhauling to do this offseason and this needs to be addressed. If the Bengals are interested in recapturing a rushing game that is typically good for 1,300-1,500 yards per season, then they need to commit to one sole starter for the 2008 season. -AE
