Russell Westbrook has signed a five-year, $80 million-plus max extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to sources.

Westbrook would have become a restricted free agent this summer without an extension.

Sam Presti finalized the deal with Westbrook’s agent, Thad Foucher of Wasserman Media Group, on Wednesday night.

Westbrook gets an extension that pays him 25 percent of the Thunder’s cap and preserves space for the team to sign James Harden and Serge Ibaka to new deals.

now if they lock up james and serge then we can really say theyll be the leader of the west for a long time.

He got paid so much more than Rondo did, if I'm not mistaken.

And this is why I'm happy about it. lol
You're happy that a team who's two best players are under 25 years old and have won 50+ games in two consecutive years and made the WCF last year are going to be playing together for a long time because they get into arguments sometimes?

The Westbrook criticism is so over blown.

I know this doesn't relate but seeing that Goldberg thing, I read that as WWF at first lol.

As for this, he should be set for a while with that money, but that OKC core needed to be locked up.

I was kidding bro, hence the "lol". Obviously with them two locked up they're gonna be one of the best teams in the league for a while.

And yeah I agree cheato.

I'd take Kyle Lowry over Russell Westbrook. I'm not kidding.

why?

and let me just say, I love Lowry. the most underrated player in the entire league. excellent PG

but Russell is better. i think eventually they might even move Russell to SG if they lose Harden too
