From:The Akron Beacon-Journal
It has been reported by several media outlets that free-agent forward Chris Webber would only consider his hometown Detroit Pistons . According to a source close to Webber, though, he would also consider signing with the Cavs if the role was right. The Cavs are depleted in the frontcourt with Varejao missing and with Donyell Marshall out with injury.

The Cavs have also had some contact with free-agent forward Dale Davis, but currently there are no serious discussions, agent Chubby Wells said
He could possibly start over Drew Gooden but i doubt it.

Their frontcourt is weak even with a healthy Marshall and Varejo.

I doubt he will make much of a difference.

They already have veteran leadership, and besides Lebron everyone is a role player.

Webber isnt the same talent he used to be, if they sign him, nothing will change IMO.

Their front court is weak? LMFAO! Most NBA experts consider them to have one of the best front courts in the entire NBA...

Umm... Ever heard of LeBron James? Last I checked the front court consisted of the C, PF and SF positions...

Well i'm not including SF in this....because C-Webb wouldn't play SF. I'm talking about Cs and PFs.

Last I checked we were talking about front courts and the front court does include SF... Chris Webber really had nothing to do with anything we were talking about...

That would suck if he signed with them.

Notice I quoted your original post to start, which actually had nothing to do with Webber, so look who's talking...

If the Cavs signed Earl then they would really be good 'cuz Earl is the true PG they need.

Earl Boykins a true PG? WTF are you talking about? Boykins is far from a true PG... Just because he's 5'5", doesn't mean he's a true PG. He's actually more of a scoring guard, so I don't know what Earl Boykins you've been watching...

Anyway, like I've been saying for a while now, the Cavaliers don't need a true PG. They have LeBron James, he's the one that is gonna run the offense, he's the one with the ball in his hands the majority of the time. He is that team's playmaker, they don't need a PG. They need players that can hit open shots, such as Damon Jones and Daniel Gibson, so that when LeBron is double teamed he has somebody to kick it to.

Damon Jones is not a player that hits an open shot consistently, that guy is always off and on. Also Gibson is not much of a big shot player. I'd pick Earl Boykins over either of them any day, until they can actually prove themselves. Boykins has proved himself, not just as a good scoring PG, but he can find the open man.

And you said James is their playmaker which is true, but James can't pass the ball to himself, so thats why they are looking into getting someone who can make the pass to him.

First off, I never said I'd take Damon Jones and Daniel Gibson over Earl Boykins, I just said they need shooters and used them as examples... Secondly, LeBron doesn't need to pass to himself, as he has the ball in his hands on every possession and he is the one running the offense.
