WASHINGTON -- The Washington Capitals will hang one more Southeast Division championship banner in the Verizon Center rafters before moving into a still unnamed division starting next season.
Nobody could have predicted that a month ago, when the Capitals looked like a team destined for the NHL Draft Lottery.
Instead they're going to the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the third seed in the Eastern Conference because they completed their superb regular-season turnaround Tuesday night with a 5-3 victory against the Winnipeg Jets, clinching their seventh division title since 2000 and fifth in the past six seasons.

They made a spectacular comeback this season.

Yeah, they had a ton of bandwagon fans. Looks like Ovie is finally connecting. They could be hot in the playoffs.

Southeast is pretty weak but Ovie heat up at the right time.
