The rumors of a trade between the Spurs and Nets involving guard Vince Carter appeared to heat up on Friday night.

If New Jersey trades Carter, San Antonio is considered the front-runner to land the former All-Star.

The most recent proposal has the Spurs sending Roger Mason, George Hill, Fabricio Oberto and Bruce Bowen to New Jersey for Carter.

The Nets would immediately waive Oberto and Bowen to get themselves under the 15-man roster limit.

The BS part is that then Oberto and Bowen would sign again with the Spurs.
C'mon Stern, thats not right

UPDATE: One problem with the deal proposed here. Under NBA rules, it would be illegal. In order for a team to take four players for one, it must make room on the 15-man roster BEFORE the deal is consummated. It doesn't matter if the plan is to waive a couple of the incoming players after the deal is done.

In order for the Spurs and Nets to make this deal, the Nets -- who are already at the 15-man limit -- would have to waive three of their own players first. Obviously, that's not going to happen. Doesn't neccesarily mean there is no deal for Carter in the works, but it isn't this deal.

I don't understand the motive here for the Nets to do this.

Unless those other players they get have some nice expirings?

The Pistons trade looked a lot more even though.

This trade would of been:
Carter for Roger Mason and George Hill
Thank gosh that rule doesn't allow it to happen lol.

I love Roger Mason, but he's not that good.

No he's not. But Spurs would be losing hella depth if they do this.

Yea, I'd rather deal him to the Mavs, J How is better then what Spurs can give imo.
