The Minnesota Vikings have the No. 12 pick in the first round of this week's NFL draft. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Vikes may be looking to trade down to gather more picks for later in the draft since the team currently only has three picks in the draft's first four rounds.

From the Pioneer Press: "At least three times during this year's draft process, Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman has referenced the possibility of trading."
The team lost a third-round pick in its unfortunate trade for Randy Moss(notes) last season.
"When you look at the draft, or you look at the potential of moving out of the No. 12 pick and accumulating more picks, I think it's a good draft, a really deep draft," Spielman said, according to the paper. "There are some positions in this draft that are extremely intriguing, to say the least."

The Pioneer Press points out that the team traded its first-round pick and two third-rounders back in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs for defensive end Jared Allen.

Possible scenario.

Could be a lot of sliding around come draft day, it'll just depend really.

I like the Vikings taking Tyron Smith.

I don't. The Vikings don't think they need an OT. Not really. The OT talk is a smoke screen in an attempt to lure a trade.

The Vikings either must draft Mallet or Locker, and if they can't get either, Andy Dalton would be a good pick. They need a damn QB, and it's about time they address it. And they will.

How can you think you don't need an OT? McKinnie is getting up there in years, and while he's still a fine player, his play has even slightly dropped off this far and will continue to do so. On the right side, you have a large question mark. Phil Loadholt was perhaps one of the most overhyped, OTs based on pure mammoth size we've seen in a while. The guy is HOORRRRRRRRIIIIBBBLLLEEE against speed rushers, and slow as hell.

OT is a problem.

I have been saying if we don't land Tyron or Prince to trade down for Mallett.
