The Minnesota Vikings have their next head coach in Mike Zimmer.
Zimmer, who has spent the last two days in Minnesota interviewing with the team, will be hired today, according to Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer.
The 57-year-old Zimmer is getting his first head-coaching position after many years as a respected defensive coordinator. Zimmer has been the defensive coordinator of the Bengals since 2008, and before that was defensive coordinator in Atlanta in 2007 and defensive coordinator in Dallas from 2000 to 2006.
In Minnesota, Zimmer takes over a team that fired head coach Leslie Frazier following a 5-10-1 season and a last-place finish in the NFC North.

Big loss by Cincy, but not a fantastic hire by the Vikings imo. I felt like they needed a more offensive minded approach

Which is why Zimmer's got Norv Turner in for an interview for the OC position, already.

Yeah, because Norv Turner has produced such great offenses in the past few years

Phillip Rivers had a fantastic year this year, and thats because he wasnt with Norv

Plus Norv Turner's vertical style offense is awful for the Vikings. They have AP for a reason. Again, they should have went for Greg Romen.

Norv Turner abandons the run like its his job. Not like the Browns had much of a run game to believe in tho

Well, you never know how it's going to turn out for first time head coaches but I hope he succeeds with the Vikings, I want to see him do well. He did a lot of good things for the Bengals over 6 years and I have a lot of respect for him. Everybody wants offensive minded coaches but the Vikings defense was the biggest mess, they were horrible. Once the Vikings get a real QB and add another WR to go along with Adrian Peterson and Patterson... Wow.. Especially if Zimmer can get that defense turned around.. I think it's a great hire for the Vikings, but successful coordinators aren't always successful head coaches, so you never know.. He deserved this chance as much as anybody. Unfortunately for the Bengals, they let their best coach go and kept the worst.
