Former Denver Nuggets general manager and current ESPN NBA Analyst Kiki Vandeweghe is heading to New Jersey. Hired as the special assistant to team president and general manager Rod Thorn, Vandeweghe fills the void left by Ed Stefanski, who bolted for the general manager job with the Sixers last month.
Of Vandeweghe's duties, evaluating current and future personnel and preparations for the 2008 NBA draft. During his 5-year reign as Nuggets' GM, Vandeweghe is credited for drafting Carmelo Anthony and orchestrating deals that brought Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin to Denver.
Vandeweghe played 13 seasons in the NBA for Denver, Portland, New York and the Los Angeles Clippers. -AE
