Van Horn Could Be Key To Deal

Two sources close to the situation indicate that the Jason Kidd deal to Dallas is very much still alive, Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting.

It can either still happen in the proposed form or one where a player is substituted.

Following talks with George, Bartelstein told ESPN.com on Thursday: "Devean is still inclined not to change his stance [and go to New Jersey], but the Mavericks and Nets have asked us to take today to reconsider everything and we said we'd do that."

The second scenario to make the deal happen would involve Keith Van Horn in a sign-and-trade.

"We won't use [Van Horn] in any deal for anyone," Mark Cuban told ESPN.com last week.

Sources indicate that Cuban has reconsidered in light of the George situation.

Dallas is retarded, this is gonna kill them down the stretch. Kidd does not have much left in the tank, and this will really hurt them down the road.

If Im the Nets Here this is what I would do in this situation. Send Jason Kidd and Malik Allen to the Mavericks for Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop, Jerry Stackhouse, Kieth Van Horn, Maurice Ager and the first rounders in 2008 and 2010. There is a solid base there. Now we know Kieth Van Horn will not touch the basketball in the near future meaning the Nets can keep Stackhouse for the rest of the season. Now take Vince Carter and send him either Knick-bound or Pacer-bound for either a Eddy Curry or Jermaine O'Neal. I believe the Indiana deal will be the best since we all know VC can barely stay healthy just like Jermaine. Now you have reinvented this team but you are lacking a Shooting protype SG for Harris's drive and dish type game. Now make the move with Memphis for Mike Miller sending Nachbar and Magloire for Mike Miller. Now you have reinvented the team to a fresh start. Lets not forget if the playoffs began after all-star break I do believe the Nets make the playoffs as a 7th seed. So lets look at the depth charts of the Nets if they make all these moves as the rumors say.

PF - Sean Williams / Josh Boone / Nenad Krstic

What you guys dont know is that resigning Van Horn is a 3 yr deal. First yr is full pay and then the rest of the money isnt guarenteed.

I'd say Jo too but I read that if the Pacers don't get a better offer then they'll trade JO for VC Magloire and a filler.
