Jason Kidd pursuing Brooklyn coaching job

Jason Kidd is pursuing the Nets' head coaching job and his candidacy has been discussed within the highest levels of the organization, according to Yahoo! Sports.

He has been working to find assistant coaches to help him overcome some of the growing pains. It's interesting and unexpected, but Kidd does have a nice résumé for this not to be totally dismissed. He ranks second on the all-time assist and steal lists to go with his 10-time All-Star nods. Kidd's offenses were some of the most efficient in the NBA during his prime, so it's not a stretch to think he could draw up some plays. The Nets appeared to have Lionel Hollins and Brian Shaw atop their list for now.

Damn, would be awesome to see him on a bench next season. Has that ever happened before? From retirement to coaching in the next year?

well he was a player coach. but yea, thats all i can think of. would be awesome to see again. he wins roy, 19 years later retires, becomes coach next season, wins coy. beastmode.

with the right staff around him that team could achieve some success and set him up for a coy, or any coach really.

Jason Kidd and the Brooklyn Nets are in discussions about a contract to become their next head coach, according to sources.

Kidd has emerged as the frontrunner and could be hired by the end of the week.

Kidd would give the Nets a "fresh face" as coach, according to league associates that have spoken with Nets' ownership.

Kidd is working on building a staff, with Lawrence Frank and Roy Rogers as possibilities.

Billy King was scheduled to interview Brian Shaw on Wednesday, but it is unclear if that will still happen. Shaw is meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

Kind of a slap in the face to all the experienced coaches without a job.

Still exciting.

Honestly if I was a Nets fan I'd be kind of upset. That team isn't a title contender, but it's a certainty that winning a title is their goal and they probably view themselves as a threat. Their window will probably close pretty quickly and they're going to waste it on a unknown who doesn't have coaching experience?

kidd has always been a player/coach anyways. i really cant see him being too bad and a good enough team will help him along anyways. now what can he do with a bad team? time will tell, but right now hes going to be solid.

if he gets hired hes my coy prediction.

Doesn't surprise you that a player like Kidd is so eager to remain involved with the NBA, especially at a coaching level. He should do a fine job in Brooklyn with an already competitive team put together.
