Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer hasn't played in a game this spring training, but it looks like that will change very soon. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Mauer, the 2009 American League MVP who had knee surgery in the offseason, could be in his first game on Wednesday.

"Good chance," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Monday, according to the paper. "It's been talked about. It's not guaranteed, [but] we said we would come in after the day off [Tuesday] and there would be a possibility. We'll talk Wednesday morning and see how he's going."

So far, Mauer has spent his spring training strengthening his knee and legs. The Star Tribune notes that Mauer caught his first bullpen session of the year this past Saturday.
Last year, Mauer hit .327 with nine home runs.
