"The Lions dropped some $16 million off their 2012 payroll Monday by restructuring the contracts of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Nate Burleson. Doing that will get the franchise in compliance with the $120.6 million salary cap in time for the opening of the NFL's new fiscal year and free-agency (4 p.m. Tuesday). They entered the week some $11 million over, a number that includes the $10.6 million franchise tag they placed on defensive end Cliff Avril last week.
The question now: Will that be enough to enable the Lions to re-sign free agents Stephen Tulloch, Jeff Backus, Eric Wright, Shaun Hill and others? Tulloch, talking on Sirius NFL Radio on"
