CLEVELAND -- At home and away, the Indians will have some new looks in 2011.

While the Tribe's primary home uniform and navy blue road alternate jersey remain the same, the home alternate uniform has a new feature and the traditional road gray uniform takes on a decidedly vintage look.

When the Indians take the field for their April 1 season and home opener against the White Sox at Progressive Field, they'll be wearing the crème-colored uniforms that were introduced in 2008. In addition to Opening Day, the Indians wear those uniforms at Saturday and Sunday home games and home holiday games.

But in 2011, the home alternate uniforms will be paired for the first time with a red cap that features a navy block "C" logo, rather than the other way around. These will be the first red caps worn by the Tribe on a regular basis since the 1970s.

On the road, Cleveland's primary apparel will be a uniform that is similar in style to the home alternate. The road gray jersey will feature block "CLEVELAND" lettering on the front chest, rather than the script style that was previously in use. The block letters and the name and number on the back of the jersey will be in navy blue with red piping. It will be paired with the midnight navy blue cap with red block "C" that was previously paired with the home alternate.

This road uniform harkens back to the one worn by the team in 1901, when the block lettering was present on the road uniform during the inaugural year of the American League.

The new replica road jersey ($90) and home alternate red cap ($35) are now available exclusively for the first week of sales on indians.com and at all Cleveland Indians Team Shops.

The Indians have four sets of uniforms, two at home and two on the road. The traditional home white uniform with the blue Chief Wahoo cap and red bill remains untouched since 2002. The alternate road navy uniform with the script Indians lettering will now be combined with the navy blue Chief Wahoo cap. Chief Wahoo also remains present on the left sleeves of all four variations of the Indians uniform.

Most notable to me is no more alternate "I" logo cap for those uptight yahoos that are offended by the Chief Wahoo logo. Love how they did like Boston and went with something a lil' retro-looking for the road grays. Still not digging how this trend of MLB teams adding throwback alternates into their uniform set each year.

I'm okay with all of them. Glad to see Chief Wahoo is still around.

Love Chief Wahoo, hated the "I" cap but I do hate the throwback caps. First off, shouldn't be wearing a red cap & second, both need a white outline around the "C" in order to prevent that letter from being drown out by the background.

Still a zillions times better than what the Cavs switched too.

Home uniforms will also be better if they got rid of the extra blue outline. Looked a lot less cluttered back when....
