Adam Schefter/ESPN.com - The Titans and running back Chris Johnson remain at a stalemate when it comes to terms on a new contract.

The team has publicly said that they'll gladly make Johnson the NFL's highest-paid running back, but those close to the player say Johnson wants to be paid as one of the game's top players, according to sources.

Tennessee has yet to officially extend any offers to Johnson.

Johnson said last year that he wanted a new deal with $30 million in guaranteed money.

He's a good player and deserves good money, but I hate it when players get too greedy and pull things like this but it is what it is, I guess.

Basically what I read, is that Peterson, at the end of this year, will get a deal, where he will make between $13-$14 million a year. So CJ wants 13 million a year for the first 3 years of his contract, and 30 million guaranteed.

Look at it this way, he would be on par with Peterson, and DeAngelo Williams, a RB who shares carries, got 21 million guaranteed. CJ doesn't share, and gets way more carries.

Give him the money Reinfeldt. We've got no chance without him.

Doesn't deserve to be the highest paid RB, let alone being one of the highest paid players in the league.

Since he's been in the league, he's rushed for the most yards of any RB. How doesn't he deserve to be the highest paid?

He may not have as good a skill set as Adrian Peterson, but he performs the best of anyone. He can take over a game, unlike anyone.

Chris Johnson is annoying.
Dude blows his money like it's nothing, that's why he wants the most. Stupid guy.

Chris Johnson has seen more strip clubs than PacMan Jones, funny thing is.. PacMan Jones has about 20 more words in his vocabulary than Chris Johnson.

The 2,000 yard season was a fluke, he's never going to come close to that again.

So what?
Neither will Adrian Peterson.
And it wasn't a fluke, when he averaged over 160 yards a game, with Kerry Collins and VY as his QB.

CJ didnt have a bad season last year, it just wasnt as good as the preceding.

He's very much deserving of the money he'll get.

And maybe he wont get 2000 yards ever again. But I wouldnt be shocked if he hit 1700 many times

Considering the QB's that CJ has had, he has done very well and deserves to be the highest paid running back. There arent many players that are better than him at his position.

Tennessee has no passing game last year. Hell, it was worse than when he ran for 2k. Defenses loaded the box on him and he had nowhere to go, so you have to take that into consideration, at the very least.

AP has never had a passing game minus Favre's first year there and is still better with a worse O-Line.

Your point is? I never said Chris Johnson was better than Adrian Peterson.

Seemed as if you're defending him when he wants to be highest paid RB.

If he's not the best RB, he shouldn't be making the most money.

Like I said, In the 3 years CJ has been in the league, he ran for more yards than Peterson. How isn't he better?
AP's skill set probably is better, but his performance is.

Marshall Faulk

"DeAngelo has done a good job splitting time (with Jonathan Stewart), but Chris is a featured back. So you can’t say ‘I’m going to give him a little more money than a guy who splits time with another back’ because he is not that kind of back, I’m sorry," Faulk said. "Chris is an every-down back, a full-service back. You don’t have guys like that any more, and because of that, the value for running backs has disappeared. The position has been tarnished in a sense and it’s not fair to Chris … "There are not many guys that I sit on the edge of my seat to watch, but Chris Johnson is one of them. Nobody is doing what this kid is doing, not even close. Now is the time he should be asking for everything he is asking for."
