Tom Clancy died in a Baltimore hospital on Tuesday at the age of 66.
 
Clancy was the author of 'The Hunt for Red October' and 'Patriot Games'.
 
Clancy tried to buy the Minnesota Vikings in 1998 but was unable to close a deal, according to Joe Browne of the NFL league office.
