I've heard from a lot of people with connections in New Orleans that Tom Benson is expected to be the next owner.
There is a group out of LA with Mike Dunleavy and Michael Dell, that's who the NBA wants, all those guys would move to New Orleans. But the NBA is afraid that there are too many "moving parts" in that group.
Then you have the guy who many believe has been the front runner all along, Gary Chouest who would be up there in terms of worth with a guy like Mark Cuban. But the NBA thinks he's low balling the league with his offer for the Hornets.
Then you have Benson, who obviously has the money, the ties to the city, and the reason to buy the team. He would have complete control of the New Orleans sports market all year around, and would get better use out of his recent purchases (Benson tower next to the Dome, Champions Square, etc). Plus he owns Fox 8 in NOLA.
Personally, I think having Benson as the owner would be a good thing.
