The Tennessee Titans placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on tight end Bo Scaife today, Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports.

He’ll count $4.462 million against the 2009 salary cap. Citing a source, negotiations went on until late Thursday morning. However, they didn’t get close enough to strike a deal.

According to Caplan, the Titans remain $20 million and $21 million under the salary cap.

Scaife led Tennessee with 58 catches for 561 yards and two touchdowns.

I`ve always liked Bo Scaife, but i`m not quite sure he should be given a franchise tag. I guess every team is going franchise tag happy these days.

This really makes them look dumb for going after Crumpler last season. I've always known that Bo was the man.
