Timberwolves Management Stops Rookies From Wearing Children Backpacks

The Minnesota Timberwolves' front office informed players that they no longer wanted rookies to wear child-themed backpacks.
 
"They actually said they don't want us carrying them, but I understand with the stuff going on with the football thing," Shabazz
 
Muhammad said. "They want to be separate from that. . . . Now I think rookie hazing won't exist anymore."

I dont really see how making a rookie carry around a Barbie backpack is all that humiliating.  I think the rookie hazing this is dumb as hell but I get it.  At this rate though, they'll find a way to remove the term "rookie" from pro sports in order create more equality among the players.

This is about as mundane hazing as you could have, but apparently that's too much. They could do much worse, yet they choose the simple children's backpack which isn't all that much of a stretch since a lot of rookies are only a year or two removed from high school, when entering the NBA.
