“We just haven’t considered using the provision,” Presti said. “I wouldn’t necessarily directly attribute that to any player on our team. Every team looks at the amnesty provision different based on their different circumstances. But it’s not something that we’ve really explored.”
When pressed, Presti went on to praise Perkins.
“We think Perk has a lot of value to our team,” Presti said. “He’s a member of a team that won 60 games and helped us to our third division title in three years. I don’t know that we can discount that. I’m sure he’d like to have had a better postseason. But I’m sure that’s pretty universal for the whole group. And we accept that.”

Thunder fans want this guy gone in the worst way.  With two years & $19 million remaining on his deal, Perkins is far from a cost effective player.  OKC is popular but they are still a smaller market team who is trying to keep payroll down as much as possible.  That $19 million could go a long way in adding some much-needed depth for next season and beyond.

OKC needs to be careful or before we know it, Durant's past his prime and the squad has peaked w/o an NBA title.

Perkins does nothing to help the team. They need a new center.

Perk is the anchor of their defense. Without him, they'd be a worse team. They need to either allow Thabeet the chance to play more minutes or they need to keep Perk. It's that simple. They have trouble against bigs as is, and he's their only suitable post defender. Get him to take a pay cut or swallow that salary until you have a suitable replacement.

Perk's effect will not show up in the box score.

He's not worth his contract; that's for sure, but he's not a bad player and I think everyone who thinks he's terrible isn't evaluating him fairly.

Perk doesn't even come close to deserving that contract, but he does a lot of things that aren't in the box score.

They are literally better defensively in every way imaginable with him on the court than off, allow less points, allow a lesser field goal percentage, block more shots, rebound better, foul less, and he's still one of the better defenders in the league allowing just 0.75 points per play.  His teammate Serge Ibaka allows 0.89 points per play and Marc Gasol allows 0.76 points per play, for comparisons sake.
