This is just my personal list, looking to see what others think.
1. Paul Brown; This mother-<Censored> invented the playbook, was the first person to use assistants full time, invented the face-mask, and is the only NFL coach to have a team named after him. Brown is God.
2. Vince Lombardi; It's hard not to put him at number one, and it pains me not to do so. I have Brown mainly because he was such an innovator. I remember reading about his loss to the Eagles in the 1960 NFL title game, he said 'This will never happen again. You will never lose another championship.' He went 10-1 from that point on in playoff games.
3. Bill Walsh; He's a legend, a true innovator. Won three super-bowls and worked with three hall-of-fame quarterback. He was taken too soon.
4. George Hallis; Coached for 40-<Censored>ing seasons and won six NFL titles. Drafted and outbid an AFC team for hall-of-famer Gale Sayers. Quit coaching too join the military three times, he was Pat Tillman before being Pat Tillman was known.
5. Bill Belichick; That's right, BB. This guy is a winner, plain and simple. Disagree he's a top-five coach all you want; however, he won the same amount of titles as Walsh and implemented the spread into the NFL, and won 18 <Censored>ing games.
I know it's hard not to have the likes of Madden, Landry, Gibbs, Levy, Parcells, and Shula; but these are the guys I'd want to coach my team.
