NFL.com - Terrell Owens told Philadelphia's WPEN-FM that wide receiver DeSean Jackson shouldn't take the field for the Eagles' Sunday season opener against the Rams without a new contract.

"Absolutely not," Owens said. "I would have to better myself and my family and my situation. That's ridiculous."

Jackson is in the final year of his rookie contract, which will pay him about $600,000.

Owens said Jackson must have been advised "to go in there, be a man about it and play under the existing contract that he has," but added, "I guarantee you -- if he goes out and gets hurt, god forbid, he's not going to get the contract that he probably would have gotten if he held out."

Jackson did hold out for a while, reporting 11 days late to training camp

Owens needs to shut his face. He isn't even signed to a team, why does he have to put his 2 cents in? And people wonder why I can't stand this guy.

He's right. What if DeSean blows out his knee in the opener? Out of a new deal

He's just speaking the truth, but because it's T.O. there will be all those people that will disregard what was said and focus more on the person.

TO's right. Plus, if he still been holding out when CJ got his deal, I bet he could have gotten a little more too.
