As the season begins, we're all excited for our new class of rookies. Highly anticipated, these dudes are ready to set the SI FBB league on fire. Some say the class is inflated - okay almost everyone says it's inflated - but let's just ignore them and look straight into the next pool of OP rookies set to hear their names called on draft night. Here's your way too early top-10 prospect pool prediction for this year:
10. C - Harry McGlocklin C+ D D B+ C+
7'0" 258 lbs - Comp : Deandre Ayton
This big got game. It seems like only yesteryear he was considered one of the top big men to be recruited into the collegiate ranks, now 2 years later he's declared this will be his final go at the college level. With his older brother his mentor, the McGlocklins are looking to take the league by storm and steal the glory the likes of which the Morris and Lopez twins have held for close to a decade. They will also have to contend with the Sydnor and Barrett brothers, having seen the elder join last year's class and the younger coming in with the McGlocklins this year.
Pros:
Solid defensive big, anchors the paint
Gets decent rebound numbers for a light weight bigman
Respectable feel around the basket
Cons:
Needs to add strength to contend with the bigs at the next level
Inconsistent jumper when contested
Panics at times when double teamed
9. PG - Davon Sydnor C B B B- D+
6'3" 192 lbs - Comp: C.J. McCollum
Younger sibling of this year's #1 overall pick, Theo Sydnor, the two absolutely demoralized their high school team's rivals in every single meeting. Both could go off for a 50 piece in the same game, on any given night. Davon and Theo were magicians on the court, with Davon being the primary ball handler running pick and roll together. Less than a full year younger, Davon entertained coming in the same year as Theo, but they colluded together to find a way to potentially end up on the same team. Knowing full well they were both potentially lottery picks, this had to be the way to go. If Davon can continue to improve and show he has the potential to grow to be one of the best point guards in the league, Golden State could very well wind up with one of the most dynamic wing duos the league may see.
Pros:
Lengthy, pesky defender that plays the drive well
Lob passer extraordinaire with touch to find long transition oops
Quick to turn defense to offense

Cons:
Raw defender that gets burned taking risks at times
Strength lacking for a bigger guard
Needs more discipline, can try too hard to make flashy plays
8. SG - Jawad Glick C B+ C B+ C-
6'4" 220 lbs - Comp: O.J. Mayo

This 19 year old could turn out to be the next Klay Thompson - or he could be just another Jimmy Butler. His potential is uncapped, but is his work ethic strong enough to elevate his game at the next level? With one season of college ball under his belt, we could find out a bit more about the young man. If his numbers plateau this year, we may have our answer. If he continues to grow, however, keep your eyes peeled for this dude if you hold an early lottery pick.
Pros:
Gaudy Highschool numbers from deep
Steady on ball defender
Surprisingly good rebounder
Cons:
Volume scorer who requires high usage
Ball dominant without the handles to be a next level playmaker
7. SG - Gene Earl C+ B C B+ D+
6'6" 225 lbs - Comp: Joe Johnson
This is one big boy. At 6'6", he is as intimidating it gets at the 2 spot. Big Earl, as his highschool teammates called him, could beat you every which way the game allows - and probably some other ways that have been banned from the pros since the Malice in the Palace. A red-shirt senior, Gene could be a prototypical 2-way player in this league. He plays above the rim with ease, can be an absolute bully on the blocks, and if you catch him in transition you best not be thinking "oh sure I'll take a charge for the team" or he'll be shooting and-1, and you'll be shooting cortisone in every joint of your body for the rest of the season, if not your career.
Pros:
Polished on both ends of the floor
Above average handles for a 6'6" guard
Multi purpose offensive skillset

Cons:
Soft on the boards for a large dude
May not have much room for development
6. PF - Desmond McGlocklin B C- C- B- B-
6'8" 238 lbs - Comp: Amar'e Stoudemire

To live up to the hype that STAT had would be high praise for this 22 year old power forward, but he's got the game to do it. The young man modeled his game after Amar'e growing up, working on boxing out, passing out of the high post, and pick-and-roll footwork. The slighter of the McGlocklin brothers, Desmond worked harder at staying lean, shooting free throws, and pick-and-pop jump shots while his brother was playing the post. Though height matters in the NBA (but not in SIM leagues *clown emoji*) Desmond should make it closer to Stoudemire's 18+ year tenure than Harry, provided he continues his hard work in developing his broad skillset.
Pros:
Strong on the boards, though his lean frame may suggest otherwise
Above average handles for a big man
Talented around the rim
Cons:
Tweener that may not have an optimal skillset for the stretch 4 or traditional 3
May need to bulk up to compete at a high level in the pros
5. SG - Tyrone Wise C B+ C+ C+ C-
6'6" 228 lbs - Comp: Devin Booker

This dude is a young buck with all the promise in the world. Sometimes, that promise is fulfilled - but sometimes, it comes with heartache and regret. Devin Booker is just hitting the strides, finally fulfilling the promise he showed at Wise's age. But at 18, Tyrone is almost every bit as good as Booker. The work he puts in this season could elevate him to the top end of the lottery, or he could fall down draft boards if he shows he's not ready to put in the effort it takes to be a SIM league GOATer.
Pros:
Astounding offensive skillset
Solid ball skills could suggest he could stick at PG
Solid feel in the paint
Cons:
Needs more work on his pull up jumper
Raw defensive ability - can't rely on his size at the next level
4. SF - Khalid Pearcy B- C+ C+ B C
6'8" 250 lbs - Comp: LeBron James
At his current state, he's no LeBron - but with the proper development in his last year of school, this 18 year old prospect could very well be the next King of the Court. He's got the build, and the talent is there, he just needs to take the next step to prove to the league he has the drive to be the best in the business. With the right coaching and development, this kid will not make a GM regret picking him over the other premium prospects this class will have to offer.
Pros:
Uncanny feel around the rim
Seamless transition from defense to offense
Solid jump shot for a man of his build
Cons:
Needs to improve his rebounding to play the forward spot
On ball defense needs polish
May not be quick enough to cover speedy guards in a fast pace

3. PG - Sean Kofoed C B B+ B D+
6'1" 196 lbs - Comp: Kyle Lowry
At just 18 years of age, this Swede is an international superstar. After a short stint with the Swedish national, he joined the European ranks to learn the ropes from the vets that have left the NBA to get their work in abroad. He left for Turkey at just 16, where he got to play with Darussafaka. There, he was tutored by Jeremy Evans and Markel Brown - former journeyman of the pro circuit in the USA. He learned what it took to be a true hooper, and how (or how not to) sustain a lengthy career. After just 2 years playing pro ball, he felt his game was ready for the best league on the planet.

Pros:
Slick handles and a dynamic pick-and-roller. His feel for passing lanes is astounding for his age.
Step back jumper that will leave defenders in the dust
Above average feel for the passing lanes on defense
More polished than you'd expect of an 18 year old prospect

Cons:
Not a stout enough defender to play against the best guards in the league
Needs work on his touch around the rim
2. SF - Steve Johnson B- A- C+ B- C-
6'7" 221 lbs - Comp: Tyreke Evans
This is your reigning Naismith College Player of the Year. A lengthy combo wing, he has the skills to make dazzling efforts look impossibly easy on the offensive side of the floor. A do it all small forward, he likely makes a transition to shooting guard at the next level, and at just 20 years old he should have a long and productive career ahead of him.
Pros:
Lengthy defender that pokes at passing lanes with ease
An outside game that makes defenders cheat towards the 3 point line, giving him natural lanes without need for a pick
Natural feel for when to go and when to pop in transition
Cons:
Needs to develop on the boards to stick at the 3
Could use some polish on his crossover
Can't continue to be a risk taker on defense at the next level
1. SG - M.L. Judkins B+ B- C B- D+
6'6" 187 lbs - Comp: Dwayne Wade

Coming into the league at 18 with this kind of talent should be illegal. Judkins plays fast and fluid above the rim, with a mid range game that can kill bigs that are slow to help in the pick and roll game. Though his offensive talent is tantalizing, he needs to go to a system that can either hide his defense while he learns to play better man-to-man, or a coach that can bring the best out of him on both ends of the floor. Judkins is head and shoulders above 99% of this class, and should develop into a top 5 guard in the league provided he doesn't go to a youth killer.
Pros:
Slick off-ball scorer that can do real damage as a cutter
Modest range that could develop at the next level
Lanky defender who is passable in a zone scheme with high trap
Cons:
Needs to develop a more consistent jump shot form
Handles are raw
Man-to-man defense needs to develop at the next level

Thankful for these new draft classes for giving me the opportunity to fail upward.
