The Memphis Grizzlies have waived 3 time All-Star Steve Francis.
Acquired from Houston for a conditional 2011 draft pick in December, the Grizzlies have bought out the remainder of Francis' contract. Francis didn't suit up or even travel with the Grizzlies, however he did practice with the team on occaision.
Once dubbed "Stevie Franchise", Francis made waves with the Houston Rockets early on in his career. Francis was traded to Orlando in 2004 and then traded to the Knicks in 2006. Tendinitis in his right knee slowed Francis down significantly and his production suffered. After being traded and then bought out by Portland, Francis returned to Houston. Francis suffered a season-ending quadriceps injury in 2007, an injury that has brought about a slow recovery process and ultimately unemployment. -AE
