Steve Francis did not expect much, but sounded shocked that he might begin the season receiving little or no playing time.

With the Rockets' rotation taking shape and apparently excluding him, Francis said he did not know what he would do, but that he might have to do "something."

"That is going to be tough, that will be real tough for me," Francis said. "If that's the case, then I don't know. I definitely didn't come here not to play at all. Hopefully we can work something out."

Asked what sorts of options he might have, Francis said: "I don't know. I can't say."

Asked if he would be willing to wait and see if he could receive more playing time as the season progressed, Francis, 6-3, said he did not know how he would react to that situation, or even if he would want to wait.

"I don't know. I can't tell you," Francis said. "That's something I would have to wait to see. Until that time comes, I can't make a decision on something like that now. We haven't discussed anything as far as my role. Until that happens, I'll still be waiting to see what happens."
Hopefully he will get some playing time.

This doesn't surprise me, he's not very good anymore, and has not been playing well for the past couple of years. Why play him when they have good young talent like Head, Snyder, etc.

I was hoping Francis could turn around his career where it all started at. He would've help the Rockets in so many ways. I still think he will be a good addition to the team and play some good minutes.

I thought that this was an amazing pickup...Then I read this and think why would you even sign him.
Oh well I hope he gets time. Stevie Franchize, T-Mac, and Yao could be a great tandem.

Houston Chronicle -
After not playing much last year with the Knicks (44 games), and knowing the Rockets were overstocked at point guard, Steve Francis should have come to camp prepared to compete for playing time.

Instead, he came to camp looking to play his way into shape. Adelman hasn't allowed him to play enough for that to happen.

"He's not the player that he once was, because he's slowed down, he's aged," said Tracy McGrady, who has two years more NBA experience than Francis.

"He still can play, despite him slowing down," said McGrady. "He's a smart basketball player. He's a very versatile basketball player. He knows how to play this game.

"Without a doubt, he will help us out."
