Clifford will sign a two-year deal with the Bobcats that has a team option for the third season. Clifford will replace Mike Dunlap, who was fired after one season. Patrick Ewing is expected to be pursued as one of Clifford's top assistants. Clifford has worked with both Jeff Van Gundy and Stan Van Gundy, who consider him a candidate on par with Tom Thibodeau.
