Seattle Times -
It appears that the SuperSonics may be all but done in Seattle.

While NBA commissioner David Stern was saying that the league will recommend to other team owners that the Sonics move to Oklahoma City, which is a smaller market, at the same time he was shooting down any attempt that Seattle are making to retain the team.

According to the Seattle Times, Stern said the NBA does not view a renovation of Key Arena as a solution because the site could not undergo a proper expansion.

"The reason that this journey began was because KeyArena was not an adequate arena going forward and there were a lot of recommendations made for another arena ... but the tax revenues and the various contributions weren't forthcoming," Stern said Tuesday.

"I would say that as far as we know, the footprint of Key is at present time not viewed as adequate to support what's necessary going forward.

I don't really see how Key Arena is not adequate, I mean its a basketball court, it has seats, hoops, press boxes, and consession stands. I mean what else do you really need?

But I can't wait til this situation is all over with.

there are other aspects of a stadium to actually make money. Box seats are a huge revenue piece in stadiums now.
Seattle is consistently losing or barely making money. A new stadium would envigorate fan support, with more luxury suites being sold - all true money-making pieces needed for a successful franchise. seattle just needs to give a new stadium. cuz if they don't, the Sonics will move, then they will have to build a new one ANYWAY to attract a new team/expansion -- just like the Texans/Oilers fiasco
