The Pittsburgh Steelers Monday signed running back Mewelde Moore, an unrestricted free agent from the Minnesota Vikings the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Moore, 25, is 5-11, 209 and will get a chance to return kickoffs and punts and to become their third-down back next season.
Per a source with knowledge of the deal, Moore will receive a signing bonus of $1.35 million, along with base salaries of $650,000 in 2008, $1.475 million in 2009, amd $1.475 million in 2010. The arrival of Moore also casts doubt on the future of Najeh "Dookie" Davenport. He is signed through 2008, and he's due to earn a base salary of $1 million this season.
