Marc Gasol will be the New York Knicks' main free agent target next offseason, but the San Antonio Spurs will pursue Gasol assuming Tim Duncan retires after the season.

Gasol is also appealed by staying with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies can offer Gasol the most money, and he has grown to love the city, having lived there since high school when Pau Gasol broke into the NBA.

Don't see Marc leaving Memphis. Only way would be Memphis low balling to avoid luxury tax, but with Prince coming off the books and the salary cap, and luxury tax threshold set to increase, Memphis will not be in danger.

Leaving Memphis would be stupid unless San Antonio is the destination. I don't envision Marc Gasol as a Knick, at all.

Why would it be stupid? He's not winning shit in Memphis. At least in NY he can go to a big market and team with a superstar

I couldn't be more serious there. I don't think they'd fuck with their team chemistry like that

this is all after the season. if they had the opportunity to get a player like greg, they'd make it work. especially for marc, too.

Did you seriously just ask that question? Why would Marc Gasol ditching Memphis for New York be stupid? Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's better to have 3 great players in him, Randolph, and Conley instead of one mega superstar in Carmelo? Maybe it's better to have those players, plus a bunch of perfect-fit role players who complement their teammates very well?

It is better for Marc Gasol to stay where he has a great core to work with. I don't see the Grizzlies standing pat if they don't advance, this year.

What on earth could the Grizzlies do to improve? Top-tier free agents would never go there. They're low on assets.

Not to mention it's easier to win in the East than the West.

Marc Gasol is going to be a top tier FA who stays there. I think this team needs a more athletic go-to scorer, just like you do, but they aren't incapable of continuing to grow as a team. They're thriving, right now. Let's see how far they can go.
