For the second consecutive year, Albert Pujols is No. 1 in Sporting News' annual ranking of baseball's best players. This year, though, our panel -- 125 experts, including 18 Hall of Famers -- picked a new No. 2.

i know santana's not the best pitcher in the MLB anymore, but no way is he out of the top 20 on this list.

Also, I would take Teixeira over Howard any day of the week.

Well, it is the top 50 players this year so far.. And he has arguably been the best player in baseball so far.

Oh yeah, then he should be on there easily. They've got John Lackey on there lol

Pretty sure it's not from this year. A lot of those guys wouldn't be on there.

If Adam Lind was actually great at defense he would have probably made top 50.

I think that David Wright will be in the top 20 after this year, he had a bad year last year but he will pick it up again and prove he is top 20. And one of the best 3B in the league.

Adrian Gonzalez should be higher on this list and hes not cuz he plays for the Padres.

When was this published? Derrek Lee at 33? I wouldn't even put him in the Top 50 right now.
