With the New York Knicks off to a quick start while he recovers from a left knee injury, two sources contend that Amar'e Stoudemire will accept a role as sixth man when he returns if asked.
"All he cares about right now is helping the team and winning," said one source. "He'd be fine with coming off the bench if that's what they want."
Stoudemire hasn't spoken with reporters since suffering a left knee injury.
Stoudemire is expected to miss at least two more weeks.

Makes so much sense for him at this point of his career. He's a really expensive 6th man but it will help limit his minutes and he'd more than likely still finish the game with the other starters.

I like STAT and it sucks seeing him breaking down like this but apparently everyone but the Knicks saw it coming and they're paying for it now.

We need him back, cause when Melo isnt hitting, if Felts or AR arent either... our offense is non-existent...

Melo has already said he prefers to be at the 3... if he and Amare just run the damn pick and roll among each other and with Felts (like they've been doing with Melo and Tyson) we'll be alright.

melo and amare are too similar though. the 6th man role would be ok but i still dont think its best. he needs to be moved.

Boozer makes less and has one less year on his contract. The Knicks would probably do that in a heart beat, because at this point they're both a colossal waste of space.

I see Amar'e getting dealt to be honest, unless the Knicks can work him into the game smoothly. I don't see him coming off the bench though lol.

Amare's got a better chance of scoring 26 a game than being traded with that contract.

Boozer better then Amare?

Boy, yall forget fast dont yall?

And regardless of he has 1 year left, we'd still be over the hard CAP, mute point.

I honestly think Amar'e can still be solid in the 6 man role. Put him alongside Sheed who takes 3s and it spaces it out a little more so Amar'e can work Pick & Roll with Felton again.

Amare is definitely better than Boozer, I'd just do it for the cap reasons.

ive never been a fan of a big man with only a 2 part game for a 6th man. either be a odom type player or a pure scoring guard like manu/jet. amare wont be nearly as effective off the bench.
