Hawks' head coach Mike Woodson and forward Josh Smith reportedly had to be separated during halftime of the team's game against the Bobcats on Friday night.
Woodson reportedly got into Smith's face criticizing him for selfish play, and the forward responded defensively.
Smith didn't play in the second half of the game, a 98-91 loss to Charlotte.
“That was coach’s call,” Joe Johnson said. “This is coach’s team. Whoever he wants to play plays, and if he doesn’t want you to play, you don’t play.”
“Josh played well in the first half,” Mo Evans said. “It didn’t have nothing to do with his basketball playing abilities. It’s the off-the-court, internal stuff that causes all the drama.”
