SI 2007 COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Nominees
Randy Moss WR, New England Patriots - This is either going to be a runaway vote or lead to a huge debate. Regardless of what Randy Moss has been in the past or whether or not it was a lack of motivation during his days in Oakland, Moss came into the season having to prove that he was still capable of being an elite NFL receiver. 42 receptions, 553 yds, 3 touchdowns in 2006. 98 receptions, 1493 yds, and 23 touchdowns in 2007.

Jeff Garcia QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Probably should of won the award for relief efforts in Philadelphia last season, but Garcia won a starting job in 2007 and did not disappoint. Threw for 2440 yds on 209 completions, 13 tds, and 4 interceptions, in leading the Buccaneers to an NFC South Championship.

Brett Favre QB, Green Bay Packers - Favre may have always been considered one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks but let's face it, for years Favre has been overrated and his stats support that fact. Favre's QB rating was no higher than 72.7 in 2005 or 2006, however he skyrocketed to a 94.1 rating in 2007. Has thrown for a much improved passing percentage, more yards per game, and less interceptions this season than any other in his career. Improved passing td's from 18 in 2006 to 26 in 2007.

Ben Roethlisberger QB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Big Ben's leash was taken off by Mike Tomlin this season and with throwing more passes, Roethlisberger showed that he can get the ball downfield and limit his mistakes. 2006 - 75.4 QB rating, 59.7 passing pct, 18 tds, and 23 interceptions. 2007 - 104.1 QB rating, 65.3 passing pct, 32 tds, and 11 interceptions. Also scrambled for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns this season!

Bobby Engram WR, Seattle Seahawks - I know what your thinking, "Bobby Engram!?!" A true underdog in the contest, Engram came into the 2007 season after only playing 7 games in 2006 because of injury. This season Engram was Seattle's most prolific WR, catching 90 balls for 1082 yards and 5 touchdowns. Another impressive stat is Engram accounted for 60 first downs this season.

I would say Moss over Favre.. only cuz Moss actually stayed healthy for the first time in a long time.. and he did break Rice's record

Things will get more interesting during the Offensive and Defensive Player of the year voting. Not only does it pit Patriot vs Patriot on the offensive end but I am not sure if there is really a run-away candidate for Defensive POY.

Buccs are in the South, not the West :p
Anyway, anyone that breaks Rice's records with a season like the one before... it's a lock :p

I voted Favre. I, like many, thought he was washed up and done. But he proved me wrong.

Favre. Moss wouldn't have needed to make a comeback if he wouldn't have sat on his ass all day in O-town...
