Despite earlier rumors linking deposed Broncos' coach Mike Shanahan to job openings in New York, Cleveland and Detroit, he's likely to sit out this upcoming season, according to a report on NBCsports.com.
Shanahan told NBC's Peter King that "unless there's a perfect situation out there, I'd rather sit out the year and return next year." The factors that entail a "perfect situation" to Shanahan are not clear, but each of the NFL's current and potential openings has red flags: the Browns and Jets both have salary cap issues, the Lions are a team that needs quite a lot of work to regain competitiveness and the Rams are currently for sale.
