I don't agree with him starting over Hawes, but him coming off the bench at the 4 and 5 is what I'm hoping for. After dealing with knee injuries during his time in Charlotte and the Kings signing him to the league minimum in the offseason, Sean May has played well of late, and has even seen time in the starting rotation this preseason.
According to the Sacramento Bee, coach Paul Westhphal is still mum on the starting lineup, but even if May isn't starting, his preseason play should net him more minutes than previously expected.
"Sacramento signed one free agent and it was to a minimum contact, but at least it was a fairly good gamble. May has been productive when he's played, but fell badly out of shape after undergoing knee surgery and has never been able to stay healthy for a full season. The Kings will give him a test drive and see if his knees can cope with the rigors of an NBA schedule; if not, they haven't lost much, but if he can knock down 18-footers and rebound the way he did in leading North Carolina to a national title, he'll provide a huge return on a minimal investment."
