The Seahawks had hoped to get running back Marshawn Lynch signed to a long-term deal before Monday, the deadline for using the franchise tag.

They got their wish.

The team announced within the past half hour that the Seahawks and Lynch have agreed to terms. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it’s a four-year, $31 million contract with $18 million guaranteed.

It’s unclear whether and to what extent the guaranteed money is fully guaranteed or partially guaranteed. Given the funding rules, it’s likely that Lynch will get a large chunk of true guarantees in 2012, via signing bonus or fully-guaranteed base salaries. Future guarantees will likely be injury only, for now.

We’ll post the details once they’re available. For now, the bottom line is that Lynch has signed on the bottom line.

I think it's a good deal. Not anything outrageous.
