Scott Perry is expected to be a general manager candidate for the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a source.
Perry is assistant general manager of the Orlando Magic, but was formerly with the Detroit Pistons.

I would be inclined to say that, since the media likes to connect anyone with a Piston tie to Gilbert.
 
The only way I see Gilbert hiring a current assistant GM as his actual GM would be removing the interim tag from Griffin, or if he hires a big name as his president of basketball operations, who subsequently hires an assistant GM to be the GM.
