ESPN's Adam Schefter senses that it will be difficult for Cam Newton to start Week 1.
Schefter notes that Newton did not play in a pro-style offense at Auburn and missed valuable offseason workouts due to the lockout. Still, Newton has been working with former NFL quarterback Ken Dorsey and getting comfortable in his new playbook. Even if Jimmy Clausen or a free agent veteran starts in Week 1, Newton figures to get under center sooner rather than later.

Sounds like more of a personal opinion than something coming from one of his sources to me.

He's been working with Ken Dorsey. He'll be a pro bowl caliber QB this year because of that.

Why would a guy like Newton want to learn from a guy who can't even make the CFL?

Dorsey has a good football mind though. He's pursuing a coaching career.

He's a favorite among Canes fans to become the eventual QB coach there.
