Ricky Rubio has been making incremental strides since March surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

"The doctors said he was progressing faster than normal, and normal was supposed to be in January," Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said. "Faster than normal would be December. He's going to start running and stuff in a few weeks."

Taylor is optimistic about his team’s chances of making the playoffs next season.

"That's a high challenge, but I'm not going to shy away from it," Taylor said. "We've got a very good coach (Rick Adelman) and some of the players that he wanted, and without injuries, and if Ricky can get back soon, that should be our goal, to be in the playoffs."

It kind of seems like the timetable for a return with these types of injuries are always a little on the long side.

It's definitely good to hear that things are on track for Rubio. He had a good first year in the NBA, average 8+ assists although turning the ball over 3+ times a game. He definitely plays like a true point guard... I think he could be as good as Nash. It took Nash awhile to get good... really wasn't so noticeable until he stepped foot in Phoenix and won MVP. Rubio definitely has a lot of potential.

Nash is/was a great shooter, something Rubio isnt even close to being.

He's closer to Rondo than Nash

I cant wait to see what Rubio does in his 2nd year, I think he can be one of the best PG's in the league. He has a great basketball IQ and court vision.

Steve Nash came into the league with a great jumper, something Rubio clearly doesn't have (at least yet). I hate the comparison for that reason.

rubio did shoot better than most expected but this is only stunting the growth of his jumper. i hope he comes back just as strong and doesnt hurt himself again. ive been on the rubio wagon for a longtime now and only wish him the best.
