If the Portland Trail Blazers decide to use the amnesty clause on Brandon Roy, there will be plenty of teams interested in signing the veteran shooting guard. However, league sources say that Roy may consider retirement if the Blazers decide to waive him.

Roy has been weighing his options and asking a number of people if he would still be able to collect his amnesty money if he chooses to retire. The 27-year-old has had arthroscopic surgery on both of his knees and played in just 47 games last season.

The Blazers haven’t indicated whether or not they’ll use the amnesty provision on Roy, but it’s certainly something they’ll consider. Roy has four years and $68,278,526 remaining on his contract.

This entire situation with him is a sad one, so much talent but just fell because of bad luck.

I can remember when I met him last year in NOLA and got his autograph, he really did not look good. Looked like walking was just a tough task for him.

So sad that a great talent like him got cut down by injuries. He's one of my favorite players too.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. Get to spend more time with your family/friends, have more then enough money to live a comfortable life.

It would be nice to see him still play, but I don't think it'd be the best option. He already has money he can live off of. It's a sad situation, and I can't imagine what's going on in his head.

Dang just like 2 days ago they said he was supposed to be in training camp.

So that means his contract is terminated? Right?

Nope. Guess the team has to wait a year since his last played game to free his contract.

If I were Brandon Roy, I'd wanna retire from the misery that is the National Basketball Association too.

Can someone tell me why my post in here was deleted? Unless I didn't actually post, which I'm pretty sure I did..

Anyway, as I said before, it's a shame you have players like Chris Paul bitching and crying about where he is playing, yet have real stories here about guys who want to play and can't.

This bothers me. B-Roy was one of my faves. It's truly sad to see it end like this. But man he was one hell of a player.
