Aaron Rodgers first play as "The Man" in Green Bay began with a false start. 2 plays later, he was sacked...and on 3rd and long, Driver lunged for a tough ball and couldn't reel it in. A tough first drive for Rodgers but also the last of the blunders for he and the First Team Offense.

Showing no signs of nerves or any anxiety, a poised Rodgers took the keys to the car and didn't take long to shift into 5th gear. Rodgers made great reads inside the pocket, took his time, and didn't force throws. Looking like a veteran starting quarterback, Rodgers showcased a text-book high release on his throws and was very accurate.

Rodgers finished his night 9 for 15 with 117 yards and a touchdown. Rodgers did throw an interception which, in all fairness, was off a deflection from his own receiver. His lone touchdown pass came on a 30-yard play to Jamal Jones, in which Jones had his helmet knocked off and scampered to the endzone helmet-less.

I'll grade Rodgers an "A" on his first quarter as Brett Favre's successor and I will put the ball back in Green Bay's corner...for now. We all thought Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy were crazy for opting to move on and let Favre walk but they might actually have the last laugh, should Rodgers continue to lead his offense in the manner he did against Cincinnati.

On the flip side...before we get ready to call Green Bay's quarterback decision "genius"...let's keep in mind that this is pre-season and Rodgers faced a very mediocre-at-best Bengals' defense. There are a lot of hurdles that I would like to see Rodgers leap before I give the 'hats off' to the Green Bay front office. I would first like to see Rodgers maintain the same poise and confidence in the pocket going up against a pass rush as good as Minnesota's & I would like to see Rodgers' ability to get the ball to his receivers when up against an upper echelon secondary of Dallas or Indianapolis. -AE
