Milwaukee assistant coach Kelvin Sampson, who served as head coach at Indiana and Oklahoma before moving to the NBA, is expected to meet with Rockets general manager Daryl Morey Tuesday.

Rockets assistant coach Jack Sikma and former Rockets forward Mario Elie, who has been an assistant with Sacramento, Golden State and San Antonio, will interview Wednesday.

Former Atlanta coach Mike Woodson, a former Rockets player who still lives in Katy, is expected to meet with Morey on Thursday.
Morey has received permission to speak with many assistant coaches still involved in the playoffs but will seek to work around the first-round schedule.
Sampson would be an awesome addition for them in my opinion. He's got great ability to coach younger players and still get the team to compete so I think he'd fit well there. What coach do you guys think would be the best fit?

Thoughts?

I agree with you, Sampson should get the job here. That whole college stuff doesn't help him but he's a good coach and players like him. I think he'll be a good coach in the pros.

I wouldn't touch Sampson with a ten foot pole. Not saying he's a bad coach, there's just something about him that makes me worry.

I would agree if we're talking college, but this is not the case. He doesn't have to follow many rules honestly as an NBA coach, worse that can happen is he gets fined for criticizing refs.

Update

The Rockets have received permission from the Celtics to interview Lawrence Frank for their vacant head coach position.
Houston has also received permission to speak with Brian Shaw, Kevin McHale and Sam Cassell, and may be interested in former head coaches Mike Woodson and Mike Brown.

The Rockets have requested permission to speak to Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw about their head coaching vacancy, according to an ESPN.com report.

Team rules restrict Lakers coaches from interviewing for another job while a playoff series is being played so Shaw will have to interview with the Rockets either Saturday or Sunday, or after the Lakers' second-round series with the Mavericks is concluded.

The Rockets would be sitting pretty if they were able to get Shaw, but he's the Lakers' next coach, and he knows it. There's no way he's going to pass up on Los Angeles to head to Houston, sorry guys.

Thoughts?

Ugh...I don't even know who I want out of all these names. Part of me says Mike Brown, because he coaches defense and we have the ability to be a top-notch defensive team.
