Erick Dampier signs one-year deal with Rockets
By David Aldridge, TNT Analyst

Free agent center Erick Dampier has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Rockets for the bi-annual exception of $2.08 million, according to a league source.

Dampier had been negotiating with several teams in the past few weeks, after he was waived by the Charlotte Bobcats in the offseason. Charlotte had acquired the veteran center from Dallas in the trade that sent center Tyson Chandler to the Mavericks.
The Bobcats waived Dampier after not being able to trade him. His previous salary was non-guaranteed, so the Bobcats could release him and get under the luxury tax threshold.
The website HoopsWorld had reported earlier Friday that Dampier and the Rockets had reached a deal, without giving specific contract terms.
Good pick up. Yao, Miller, and now Dampier. Thats some big guys that can play.

Ya good depth signing. Considering that yao's pt will be quite limited.

Yep, real nice fit for both parties. Surprised it took this long for someone to ink him.
