Was gonna be a FA after 2018 season. So this gives them 2 more years. Nice. Didnt know you could renegotiate contracts??

There's never been a reason for a player to re-negotiate until now with the cap going up so dramatically. Some teams would be willing to raise a salary if it guarantees more years of playing on their team, and a player might want to get a significant bump from the previous cap's max.
