Associated Press - Ricky Williams has decided to retire after 11 seasons in the NFL.

"The NFL has been an amazing page in this chapter of my life," Williams said in a statement.

"I pray that all successive adventures offer me the same potential for growth, success and most importantly fun. I want to thank all my fans, teammates, coaches and supporters for the strength they've given me to overcome so much."

Williams briefly retired once before, missing the 2004 season.

He was facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy before he shockingly announced he was leaving the game
Bright side is, he can smoke all the weed he wants now :)

Very good career that could have been so much greater. Generational talent that was held back by his own doing.

One of my favorite players ever though. His documentary was great. Very humble guy. Didn't seem to care about money, or upholding a legacy. A lot of people look down on him for retiring when he did, but I can appreciate a guy willing to walk away at the top of his game if the passion isn't there. I respect that.

Yeah, he seems like a stand-up guy. Really liked him too, and yes, he could have been a lot better.

hes a strange ass dude. his interview on mike and mike just now was great. lol. he said if a team calls him he'll listen and have a nice convo but he'll likely be in another country so he cant do anything to help them. wish he was better but i enjoyed watching him. hats off to him really. wish more people were as humble as him.
