Rich Cimini/ESPN.com - Jets coach Rex Ryan delivered the first public shot at the Giants, his team's opponent this weekend, on Monday.

"Quite honestly, I never came here to be little brother to anybody," he said. The comment was a variation of his famous line from 2009 about refusing to kiss Bill Belichick's Super Bowl rings.

Ryan added that it's "ridiculous" for anyone to suggest the Giants have been better than the Jets since his arrival in 2009.

"I recognize they're an excellent football team," he said, "but I think we're better."

Both teams are coming off damaging losses.

I just hope the Giants win, just so my friend, whos an Eagles fan, can bite his own actions. Dude just placed $50 on the odds that Philly will win the Super Bowl... a NYG win or PHI loss eliminates them from the playoffs lol

but yeah, they both suck. But im 1000x more scared of the Jets than the Giants

Kiwanuka Fires Back At Rex Ryan

NFL.com - Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka quickly fired back at Rex Ryan after the coach of the Jets declared his team the best in New York on Monday.

"Certainly, we were the better team the first two years," Ryan said of 2009 and 2010, his first two years in New York. "We made the playoffs and went to the (AFC) Championship Game. To say a team's better than you that never made the playoffs is ridiculous. ... We get to prove it Saturday who the best team is this year."

Kiwanuka agreed with very little of Ryan's bluster session.

"Talking trash isn't going to help you out on the field," Kiwanuka said: "... I know we're the better team. We just have to go out there and prove it. ...

"The beautiful thing about it is we're going to find out real soon. (I'm) not worried about anything that anybody says, especially somebody who's not going to have pads on."

Sexy Rexy also said he came to NY to take not just the AFC East by storm, but to take over the NFL.... bro you couldn't even take over the Eagles.

Rex Ryan: If we lose to the Giants, blame me

Jets coach Rex Ryan has been saying all season that he believes his team is going to be playing its best football when the games matter most. With a huge crosstown rivalry game against the Giants looming, Ryan says he’ll accept all the blame if that turns out not to be the case.

“If we lose, it’s coming right down on me. And I can handle it,” Ryan said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

If the Jets do lose to the Giants on Sunday, Ryan won’t need to invite people to give him the blame — everyone who watches football will do that on their own. When you’re as brash in your boasts about your own team as Ryan is, you’re going to take the brunt of the blame when things don’t go your way.

Ryan said he has a long list of things that his defense needs to improve before Saturday’s game, and he said that Giants quarterback Eli Manning is going to make his team pay if they’re not ready.

“The guy might be the most accurate quarterback down the field in the league,” Ryan said of Manning. “He is an elite quarterback. I hope he’s not elite on Saturday.”

And if Manning is elite against the Jets’ defense, Ryan is ready for a long offseason of hearing all about it.

He actually better hope Giants receivers don't drop 55 yard TD passes.
